JACK HAMPTON:
I do not strive to paint a "pretty picture". It is a passion of mine, indeed it may be an obsession, to capture and communicate the essence or the truth of a scene or person. It may be the "blueness" of a stream or the curve of a shoulder or the texture of a tree trunk. Whatever it is, it must be the truth. The essence is then communicated to the one perceiving and a communication is set in motion with the painting. I strive to set up this communication - this dialogue. I carry on this dialogue when painting. My thoughts go through the brush and end up on the canvas or the panel. I invite you to join with me on this journey. I invite you to communicate with each painting and ask yourself "What does this painting say to me?"
NANCY HAMPTON:
I am most pleased when my paintings tell a story or when they add something of beauty to this world. It also pleases me when the viewer sees the painting - and feels about it - as I do. Its a joy to share my painting journey with you.
